Discover the fascinating history of Forna Castle

Forna Castle, located in Alicante, is an impressive medieval fortress whose origins date back to the 13th century, although its current structure mainly corresponds to the 14th and 15th centuries.

One of the most important things, and what gives it most of its identity, is that it was initially built on an old Arab watchtower and was transformed into a manor house by the Cruïlles family after the conquest of James I.

Forna Castle holds a unique history for lovers of Valencian civil Gothic, so if you like that era and its architecture, it will be a real treat for you. The truth is that it presents a unique architecture, with independent towers and a central courtyard, so it’s no wonder that it has become a highly appreciated historical symbol for both tourists and the inhabitants of the province.

People love its history for the mix of mystery, art, and feudal legacy, in addition to offering impressive views of the coastline, which causes thousands of tourists to come and fill their phone’s camera roll with quality panoramic photos.

The only “downside” is that, currently, its interior is closed for restoration, but its opening in 2026 promises to revive all its splendor and attract numerous tourists.
