Some people visit a market with a perfectly defined list and others just want to browse for a while. The fun part is that in both cases you usually end up the same way, returning to your accommodation with something you hadn’t planned to buy.

Dénia’s markets are a different way to get to know the city
Markets offer a glimpse into a fairly everyday side of the destination. While the port has a clearly holiday atmosphere, Torrecremada brings together residents and visitors around traditional stalls.
The general market takes place in the morning, as do the flea market and the fresh produce market. The port market runs in the afternoon and evening during the tourist season. If you organize your trip well, you can visit more than one without any problem.
Opening times may change on public holidays, due to weather conditions or when the esplanade hosts the Fira de Tots Sants. Check notices from the Town Hall or Dénia Tourism when your visit coincides with a special date.

The Monday market in Torrecremada
The weekly market is set up on Mondays on the Torrecremada esplanade, next to Germans Maristes street and opposite the courthouse area. Its usual hours are from 8:00 AM to 1:30 PM. Arriving before ten allows you to browse the stalls with less heat and more peace and quiet.
It’s a large and varied market, with clothing, footwear, bags, jewelry, household items, plants, food and takeaway meals.
Friday markets for fresh produce and second-hand goods
On Friday mornings two different options appear. The fruit and vegetable market takes place on Calle de la Vía, right in the center, while the flea market usually occupies the Torrecremada esplanade. Both typically run from 8:00 AM to 1:30 PM.
You can start on Calle de la Vía, have something in the center and then head over to the flea market. The distance is manageable on foot and you’ll avoid looking for parking twice.
What to buy at Dénia’s flea market
The Friday flea market differs from the general market because much of the appeal lies in rummaging around. You’ll mainly find used items, such as books, tools, decorations, small furniture, records, fishing gear, etc.
Don’t go looking for something too specific. The best thing about the flea market is discovering something useful or interesting at a reasonable price. Check the condition of each item carefully and ask before assuming a piece works.
There may also be second-hand clothing and accessories. If you’re interested in decorative items, arrive early, because the most eye-catching pieces tend to attract quite a bit of competition. Bringing cash in small amounts speeds up purchases, although some vendors accept other payment methods.
The summer market at Dénia’s port
When the sun goes down, the port promenade changes its appearance thanks to the stalls located along Bellavista street. The market offers jewelry, gifts, leather goods, textiles and small souvenirs in a much more touristy setting than Torrecremada.
Between June 15 and September 15, opening hours are from 5:00 PM to 1:00 AM every day. During the rest of the opening season it runs on weekends and public holidays, generally from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
The best time to go depends on your priorities. Early in the afternoon there will be less atmosphere, but you can browse at your leisure. After dinner you’ll find more activity and a much more pleasant temperature for walking alongside the boats.
How to get there and where to park near Dénia’s markets
Torrecremada is a few minutes from the center and can be reached on foot from many areas of Dénia. If you’re going by car, bear in mind that the esplanade itself stops functioning as a car park when the stalls are set up. Look for legal parking on nearby streets and avoid arriving right at the busiest time.
For the market on Calle de la Vía it makes more sense to use the public car parks in the area and continue on foot. The center has pedestrian streets and one-way systems that can make you drive around more than expected.
The port market fits well into a walk from the old town. You can leave your car outside the busiest area, have dinner in the center and walk down to the seafront promenade. That way you won’t depend on finding a space near the stalls at the last minute.
Tips for visiting the markets without stress
- Arrive early at the morning markets: you’ll have more parking options, avoid the hottest hours and be able to see the stalls before the crowds increase.
- Bring cash and a reusable bag: not all vendors have card payment and ending up with five small bags hanging from your arm has far less charm than it seems.
- Compare before buying: at the general market there may be similar items at several stalls. Take a first look around and decide afterwards, unless you find a unique piece at the flea market.
- Protect your belongings in crowded areas: use a closed bag and don’t leave your phone in view when the market is especially busy.
- Check for last-minute changes: rain, public holidays and the installation of other events can modify or cancel any edition.
