Here's how you can easily get to Cala Baladrar

Getting to Cala Baladrar is as easy as losing your car keys in the sand, but don’t worry, this beach is made of stones. This paradise is located between the towns of Calpe and Moraira, in the province of Alicante, in the heart of the Costa Blanca.

If you’re coming from Moraira, you have to take the CV-746 road heading south; if your route starts in Calpe, do the same but in reverse. You’ll see signs indicating the turnoff to the cove between kilometers 7 and 8. Don’t miss the sign, or you might end up in a different cove.

After the turnoff, you’ll find a small parking lot with about 20 spaces. If you arrive in high season, you may have difficulty parking, so it’s best to remember to get up a little early.

If you’ve chosen public transport, there’s a nearby bus stop, ideal if you want to skip the car and enjoy the views without the stress of driving. And if you’re a fan of walking, the Benissa ecological trail runs along the entire coast and connects the main coves.

To access the cove you’ll cross a viewpoint area perfect for your first photos of the landscape and then some stairs. Before going down, you can replenish your strength on the benches with tables under the pine trees.

What services are there in the cove?

Cala Baladrar has the perfect balance between natural and comfortable enough so that even the most urbanite doesn’t miss civilization. You’ll have what you need for a happy and carefree day, but without the crowds of other beach areas.

Among the services offered by the cove, you’ll find a parking lot which, despite being small, is quite useful if you arrive early. It also has a public restroom area, and you’ll have trash cans and benches, because the Mediterranean is taken care of, but so are your glutes.

You also have shaded picnic areas, ideal for eating your Tupperware lunch sheltered from the sun. Although if you haven’t had time to make your own food, you also have the Olalá beach bar.

What is the atmosphere and ideal type of visitor for this cove?

The atmosphere of the cove is mostly peaceful. Here you won’t find crazy parties or hotel entertainment, but a family atmosphere where people looking for tranquility gather. In the morning, the calm is total, ideal for those looking to disconnect. As the day progresses, the atmosphere livens up a bit, but without losing that beachy serenity that is so hard to find.

For the more active, Baladrar is the paradise for snorkeling and diving, thanks to the clarity of the water and the seabed full of life with colorful fish, posidonia meadows and, with luck, some starfish. Of course, keep your booties handy because the stones give free massages, but they don’t forgive oversights.

Plans for the partygoers? The Olalà beach bar offers live music concerts from Monday to Saturday throughout the summer, so there’s a gentle vibe and good vibes for all audiences.

The beach bar: these are its hours and what they offer

The Olalà Beach Bar is the social heart of Cala Baladrar and one of the top beach bars on the entire Costa Blanca. It is not next to the water, but a little elevated on a cliff, which gives it incredible views of both the Mediterranean and the mythical Peñón de Ifach.

The summer hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m., every day. Perfect for having breakfast looking at the sea or ending with a drink and live music under the stars. In winter, the hours change, it is from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., perfect for a vermouth or an aperitif between walks. And it is open from April 7 to November 1.

The Olalà menu offers a Mediterranean cuisine with tapas, paellas, fish, salads and rice dishes. It also has vegetarian options. Among the dishes we recommend are the patatas bravas and the mussels.

Don’t forget to attend one of the live music concerts, which turn the beach bar into an ideal place to watch the sunset, while you enjoy the food, a cocktail and the music.

To have a perfect day we recommend arriving early, since parking is limited. You should also remember to bring a suitable footwear, because the stones can be treacherous if you are not careful.

Also remember to bring a beach umbrella and a chair, if you don’t want the stones to give you an unpleasant massage all over your body. And if you are a little more adventurous, don’t forget the diving goggles.

And if after the beach day you have energy left, explore the ecological trail that runs through several coves, viewpoints and picnic areas.
